Welcome to Kibera Mpira Mtanni (KIMTA). We are a community based organisation in the Kabira slums in Nairobi, Keyna. The Kabira slums house over 1 million people, mainly young families that have come to Nairobi in search of a better life and and work in the city. Many have come from more rural areas where their families have lived for many years. Unfortunately work and facilities are scarce here and most families are reduced to living in corregated iron and mut huts, with very little money and access to, what many consider basic facilities such as food, toilets, healthcare and education.
KIMTA work on three main pillars of business; the enviroment, education and sports. Their offices, in the heart of the slums have been turned into a libary and resource centre for the children. KIMTA believe education is for everyone and strive to offer a primary and secondary education to children from all walks of life. They work hard with enviromental agencies to ensure Kibira has basic facilities and an enviroment that promotoes wellbeing and a sports programme that allows mass participation and the learning of fundamental life skills through sport.
